Ok, this is my last post before Geocities disables my FTP access. I've been testing Tripod for the past few days and it seems as though every time I change something in the design, it takes Tripod forever to show the changes. I just might use BlogSpot in the meantime. Fateback is a little complicated right now, so I'm getting used to it. Will probably launch my HOMEPAGE, with links to my blogs and what not soon, if I can get my fateback account to work. Exciting!

Netscape 6 is a beaut. It's an all-in-one kind of thing: browser, mail client, instant messenger, news manager and what have you! And it comes with two themes: modern and classic. Modern looks nice with its round shiny buttons while classic looks like your old netscape (for those who resist change, hehe). I wish I could just use Netscape for all my needs, but my pocketpc only synchs with Microsoft Outlook. And Outlook is such a nice program in itself. Maybe I should download desktop skins again... For those of you who want to make your PC look like a mac (onscreen, I mean, I can't do anything about the hardware), head on to www.windowblinds.net and download WindowBlinds, a program that lets you skin your desktop. And for all sorts of skins, hop on to WinCustomize which is a repository of all sorts of skins for all sorts of programs. WindowBlinds, by the way, is shareware but you can download it for trial. It displays a nag screen at start up. I tried it before and it's nice, especially for desktop monsters who love eye candy! I especially liked searching for the right theme to go with my wallpaper of the month. Of course, when my 'puter was starting to slow down because of my hoard, I had to uninstall it. Eye candy is the first to go, of course. But, now that I've upgraded my pc, I'm seriously thinking of installing it again. Weeeee!!!!

What is happening to Yahoo!? First, Yahoo! Geocities announced that they're disabling FTP for freesite owners. Now, Yahoo! Mail, which I've been using since I first went online, is disabling POP3 access starting April 24!!! God, everything has a price now. Oh well, I guess to get service you gotta show the money. Argghhhh....now, I'm on the lookout for a nice email service. I do have my ISP email, but I want to get a nice web-based thing that's disposable. I don't like posting my "official" email on sites and such. I'm browsing through emailaddresses.com and hopefully, I'll find a nice one.

Cyberstalking is baaadddd. Read an article in Yahoo! Internet Life about it. Grabe, I thought the writer was talking about ME. Haha, it's embarrassing, actually. Yes, yes, it's unethical to dig up info about other people especially if you can just ask them about it. It's just so fun! It's like having access to little corners of a person's brain. It's fan-girlism on a different level. I should stop! But...but...phooey. . . . . . . . . Dammit, i'm still at it. sige na nga, goodnight. turning off this thing will end it. Besides, what exactly do I get by staring at text that's supposed to represent a person? Is this the new way of staring at someone from a distance? Yech, so what if I can see text? This is weird. I'd be better off reading them Faery stuff. . . . . . . Can't help myself...I'm browsing the entire place! It's just so convenient albeit pointless. Haha. Good night, good night, good night!

And there are more downloads for me!!! More Welsh folklore and other stuff to do with Faery. Here's a list of e-books I downloaded-- let me paste the titles and descriptions for you. You'll notice that they all have one thing in common: British Goblins: Welsh folk-lore, fairy mythology, legends and traditions THE Gwragedd Annwn (literally, wives of the lower world, or hell) are the elfin dames who dwell under the water. I find no resemblance in the Welsh fairy to our familiar mermaid, beyond the watery abode, and the sometimes winning ways. The Gwragedd Annwn are not fishy of aspect, nor do they dwell in the sea. Their haunt is the lakes and rivers, but especially the wild and lonely lakes upon the mountain heights.--by Wirt Sikes
Fairy Legends and Traditions IT is said by those who ought to understand such things, that the good people, or the fairies, are some of the angels who. were turned out of heaven, and who landed on their feet in this world, while the rest of their companions, who had more sin to sink them, went down further to a worse place. --by Thomas Crofton Croker
Gods and Fighting Men Now it chanced at that time there were three brothers of the Tuatha de Danaan living together in a place that was called Druim na Teine, the Ridge of the Fire, Goibniu and Samthainn and Cian. Cian was a lord of land, and Goibniu was the smith that had such a great name. Now Clan had a wonderful cow, the Glas Gaibhnenn, and her milk never failed. And every one that heard of her coveted her--arranged and put into English by Lady Augusta Gregory
Japanese Fairy Tales--Yei Theodora Ozaki Long, long ago in Kyoto, the people of the city were terrified by accounts of a dreadful ogre, who, it was said, haunted the Gate of Rashomon at twilight and seized whoever passed by. The missing victims were never seen again, so it was whispered that the ogre was a horrible cannibal, who not only killed the unhappy victims but ate them also. Now everybody in the town and neighborhood was in great fear, and no one durst venture out after sunset near the Gate of Rashomon.
The Welsh Fairy Book THE people of Pembrokeshire were for a long time puzzled to know where the fairies, or the Children of Rhys the Deep, as they are called in Little England beyond Wales, lived. They used to attend the markets at Milford Haven and other places regularly. They made their purchases without speaking, laid down their money and departed, always leaving the exact sum required--W. Jenkyn Thomas
Ok, this is it for now. I really am into this Faery stuff. I even have an encyclopedia of Fairies and Goblins, and that Faery book by Brian Froud. Sometimes the stories get a little creepy, but they're all so fascinating. Ok, totoo na 'to. Good night!

Good night, my foot!!! I surfed a bit (cyberstalking on the side) and discovered this e-book site called Black Mask.com. Guess what I found there? An e-book of the Mabinogion!!! Woo hoo!!! Ever since I read the Chronicles of Prydain and The Key in the Harp, I've been interested in Welsh folklore. And the Mabinogion is sort of The Book when it comes to that. That's how I understand it, anyway. Well, I downloaded it and will check it out on the go, on my PPC, hehe. Speaking of PPC, the upgrade to PPC2002 is available already. It costs 1700, argh. I hope I have extra cash to get mine upgraded. The new software is good daw. All I know is that with it, I can finally synch email folders! At last, some organization in my PPC inbox! That alone is reason for me to get the upgrade. Now, if only my wallet was willing...

Woke up to a bright sunshiny day! Work went well. I'm not so tired right now. My current distraction provided the much appreciated distraction! I hope tomorrow will be as good as today. Good night!

I woke up today feeling refreshed and ready to work! Talk about waking up on the right side of the bed, hehe. But, amazingly, my day went down the toilet while I was only 1 hour into it. Gad, it's amazing how everything can turn around just like that. I really don't like it anymore. Argh. I hope things will be better tomorrow. Ugh, I hope I won't have to face that until I settle down for a bit. Right now, I want nothing to do with it. I'm writing in codes, hehe. Ok lang, maybe if I spell it out I'll get even more upset.

Back to the daily grind! I'm 8 hours away from getting ready for my weekly meeting with the juicers. So, technically, I'm enjoying the last few minutes of my weekend. Been working on a new design for The Desktop Monster, which I am thinking of keeping in Geocities. What I plan to do is put a splash page that will link to the different parts of the site. That way, I can keep 99 percent of the site in Geocities (which, despite its distressing decision to desist ftp access to freesite holders, I think is still the best deal around in terms of freesites. hehe, don't you just love the alliteration there? ok back to what i was saying...) I will keep 99 percent of TDM (The Desktop Monster, silly) on Geocities and provide a link to my blog which I will host on Blogspot. I'm not sure, though, if I can tweak the design in blogspot much. Ok, so if not Blogspot, it will be on Tripod. Ok, end of discussion. Watch out for the shift come April 1. I haven't had time to tinker with the pc much. What with all the things I have to do for work and for myself! I can't believe the internet still wins over a massage. I've been meaning to get one (a massage, that is) but I always think that I should really work on the site. I'm a fool, I know. But, I don't call myself The Desktop Monster for nothing. Had coffee with Data this afternoon. Funny how Starbucks Katipunan has become the AdMU Library ANNEX. Ok, so I'm not sure that all those kids are from AdMU, I'm just assuming. Anyhoo, there was absoulutely NO room for any more customers because every table in the damn place was occupied by studying kids with almost all their cups already empty! Tough luck for Data and Me who ended up walking around the Beauty Bar with our drinks just to talk. (She bought something naman). After that, we hopped on over to Subway to grab a salad and a table. I wish Choco Kiss wasn't closed Sundays. Here's a nice narcissistic link: I ran a search on my name 2 years ago and voila! I found that the World Wildlife Fund had posted some shots that I took for them on their website. It was a nice surprise to get photo credit like that, considering the photos are theirs since they paid for them. Those photos were taken in Bacolod. Lotuseater and I covered a conservation project. She was the writer and I was the videographer. Haha, yep, I got away with that. I do know how to handle a video camera and shoot stills. So, those two photos on their website are some of the stuff I shot for them. I have my own copies, too. :D But, they're all on slide format. I believe those photos appeared on the annual report of WWF or something. Cool. :D

The Liverpool airport has been renamed. It's now the Liverpool John Lennon Airport. And its tagline? "Above Us Only Sky." How cool is that! Even the official website of the Lennon Airport sports the Lennon self-portrait, the same one used for Imagine: John Lennon the film. Here, see for yourself. :D And here's a news article with a photo of the statue of Lennon in the airport.

I've turned into a cyberstalker. I guess my friends would sort of know what I'm talking about. Or at least they can guess. Hahaha, I love this highway of free information! Good day today. A very painless day albeit a very long one. Tomorrow will be yet another looooonnnnggg day. I've got to figure out how to fix my Wednesday sked. No new net finds today. I'm just cruising while my handheld is synching. I can't seem to get my media player to work on my ipaq. Funny, it was working yesterday! Hope it gets fixed right away, but I dunno how. Will probably research on the net on Thursday for that. In the meantime, no music on the go. Well, at least I still have my superfun games: Hyperspace Delivery Boy and Peter's Game Box. Ok, here's a link to those games. I think you can find them at ipaqsoft.net.

Still juicing. Pretty busy week. Been downloading fonts because I'm planning to experiment with the blog's design again. Especially when I finally move it to ___________ (still haven't decided). Fontfreak.com has nice stuff. Bought the new Rivermaya cd. They're really getting better and better. I heard one of their songs on the radio. I didn't know it was theirs, but I sort of recognized Rico's voice. Really good track: "Wag Na Init Ulo Baby." It sounds like a song from the 50s or 60s. Something the Rascals would sing. It's a good buy, and it's only P250!

I never thought finding a new free site host would be so damn difficult. I got spoiled by Geocities' 3GB monthly file transfer allowance, and everywhere I look, they give like a sixth of that. The only one I've found that gives at least 1GB is Tripod. I know my site isn't exactly a high-traffic site, but you know, why settle for less? Hehe. I guess I'll keep my RK Desktop Goodies in Geocities because that is big on file transfer. I only get an average of 25 visitors a day but I still receive messages from Geocities that I've exceeded my 3GB limit! People download my wallpapers and icons! I guess I'll just have to bear with the browser upload since most of my stuff are up already and I do just a couple of wallpaper uploads for updates. But my blogs -- The Desktop Monster and The Techy Hobbit -- will move to Tripod. But I guess I'll keep my wallpapers in Geocities. Oh, I don't know!!! I just wish I could spare 5 dollars a month to maintain all these accounts, but it's not practical. We'll see. I'll think about it some more and make a decision before April 1. Thanks to D who suggested a host. But, I'm just so wishy-washy.

I'm currently scrounging the internet for a new free host. Know any new ones? Geocities is taking out its FTP access from freesite owners!!! That means I won't be able to update my site using blogger or my convenient FTP program. And browser uploads just take too long. I've got to look really hard because most of them don't allow much bandwidth. Not that I get that much traffic, hehe. But, you know, you always want the best. I'm also considering moving my Rurouni Kenshin Desktop Goodies site because it's easier to update it via FTP. But where to?!?!? Any suggestions are welcome. I'm currently looking into Zerocatch and Tripod. But I had banner ads! I don't like pop-ups, too, but I'd settle for them since they allow me to have an entire window without ads. I'm also considering upgrading my account on Geocities, too...oh well, decisions, decisions.
