Welcome to my newly designed blog! That goofy character up there in the banner is the main character in my newest favorite anime, Niea_7 (Nee-yah Under 7). She's a naughty, lazy, freeloading alien who sometimes collects junk with which she makes UFOs. Hehe. This design update was made on the last day of August. The 'Ber months are here! Christmas is around the corner!

Anyway, thanks to John's NieA_7 Shrine for the image!

Checked my tracker and there's always someone looking for Slam Dunk ringtones and unfortunately, they only find an entry that says that I have a Slam Dunk ringtone. But, that's useless to them. So, since I don't have anything to blog about today (and since this is a net-finds blog), I'll give those people what they're looking for.

Here's the Slam Dunk main theme (Kimi Ga Suki Da To Sakebitai) ringtone:

Hope this helps :-) For those who are composing it on their celphones, just play around with the tempo until you get your desired tempo. Good luck!

Annunerin called last night, after I logged off. Hehe, good thing I did! Funny how international calls have this sound delay, and sometimes the things you and the person on the other end say overlap until you don't know where the conversation's at anymore. :-) But twas nice to talk to her. Still no internet for her though.

Sunday, the last day of the weekend. Hope it turns out well. :-)

i'm afraid to log off.

floating around in endless silence. reading thru other people's lives to help me get thru mine. it's not so bad, if only it weren't so damn quiet. i should put on some melancholy music...so that i'll float around in endless melancholy sound instead of silence.

I don't know which is worse: to hurt over something or to not feel anything for lack of anything to hurt for.

Stumbled upon eatonweb portal, a weblog directory. The blogs are sorted according to different categories -- country, language, focus, whatever...so if you're looking for new stuff to surf you can browse them according to what interests you.

And while I was doing just that, I found this really nice one: Dindin's World. She's got great photographs there which I enjoyed browsing immensely. Makes me wanna go out tomorrow and start taking photos again. Eversince I left 5 and Up I don't take pictures much. I guess my favorite subject really are kids and now that I'm not surrounded by them, I don't take pics much anymore. Gotta find new stuff to shoot...

want more icons to use on yahoo messenger? Check out this cool smiley thingie.

It's Led Zep night at Bistro 70s, Mutiny and Razorback are playing. Was supposed to go with some friends, but I don't feel like going out anymore. Took forever assembling the episode again. The same one that's playing right now. I don't want to watch it anymore. I can never do that...work on something and then wait for it to air. By the time it does, I'm sick of it already. So, I'm up here, blogging about nothing. Thinking of what I should do next.

Tomorrow's a relatively easy day. Meeting at 11am. Should last no longer than an hour. Lunch at home, meet up with lotuseater and go to the comic book store on Katipunan.

I'm supposed to also research for my next racket. But, that can wait.

What else...oh, I can't seem to highlight the text on that Yahoo emoticons page. I wonder what's wrong...

New TTT trailer's going to be released on Sept. 30 on AOL. I still can't understand that AOL Keyword thing...In any case, that should burn the internet lines on Monday! Read more atlordoftherings.net.

Wow, I can now hold back sadness and depression. Remember that prayer "God grant me the serenity..." something something...does it mean I have a teensy weensy bit of wisdom already? Hahaha. annunerin left for the US this morning and she's never coming back. (Well, not naman *never* but she's going to live there na). I got really sad about it, but I'm amazed at how easy it is for me to just let it be.

Well, our blogs will now serve a more practical purpose. :-) See you online!

Was browsing Tolkien-Movies.com's forums and there's someone there by the handle "Christian Hobbit" that reminds me so much of one member in my Tolkien egroup...his entire position is similar to the one posted in my egroup, and judging from the replies to CH's posts, he seems to be narrow-minded about the whole thing...hmmm...I wonder. Same tone, same lack of support for his position. Hehe, I'm bad. I should stop this...Tolkien's invading my dreams even. Literally. I dreamt last week that I was in his class. LOL. The next day I started rereading my Calvin and Hobbes books just to take a break from Middle-earth!

Saw Reign of Fire with lotuseater. Not that bad. Was expecting something that couldn't be saved even by fantastic CGI. There were some pretty awful lines, though. And I'm sure you'd find a lot of loopholes if you so much as scratch the surface of the plot, but it was a fun ride nonetheless. The dragons were GREAT!!! And that little Star Wars scene was a bonus! I'm off to look for dragon images...

Just a quick note before I go to work. Saw Come Together: A Night for John Lennon's Words and Music last night on RPN 9. This was the concert I heard about last year, which they webcast (I think). Well, better late than never. Really cool show, lots of different artists singing Lennon songs. Sean Lennon sang Julia. That was cool. He sort of reminds me of Ely Buendia (slightly kamukha). The stage was modeled after John's Ascot(?) house, I think. The white room with the ceiling-high windows, where they shot the video for Imagine, with Lennon playing the white grand piano. Kevin Spacey, who hosted the show, sang Mind Games. That was a surprise, didn't know the guy could sing. Nelly Furtado sang I forgot which song na. In any case, as usual, I couldn't understand the words she was singing even if I knew the lyrics. Her voice does have texture, though, but I'll take Natalie Merchant any day.

Bought a TTT Legolas action figure a few days ago. Took a picture of it in AND out of its box. I'm not a collector and I like to play with my toys :-) You can get this at Toy Kingdom for P399. I hope they release a TTT Gimli, too!

I've uploaded new Star Wars wallpapers: 2 Anakins, and 1 Clone one. If you're interested, go straight to the SW Wallpapers page.

Good morning!!! Wonderful day! Woke up at 8am, contemplated on sleeping some more, and decided not to. Went downstairs to make some French Toast! Yum yum. And some coffee. Stared at my plants for a bit, some have bloomed today and there's one that's always a-bloom, then went upstairs to check my mail. This is the life. :-) (the other kind would be waking up early and taking a walk on the beach, and then coming back in to have some french toast and coffee.)

Which reminds me...I haven't been to the beach in more than a year! Ack! Must work on that one...

Later, mini-moot at Mega. Annunerin's last, she's going to the states on the 26th. :( So, we're just having our last coffee together. Not sure if Sly's birthday party is pushing through...she got mugged two days ago. The mugger took all her things AND started texting people in her address book borrowing money. The orc!!!

It's just a good thing she came out of it unharmed. We'll see what happens later!

And why didn't this site come out when I searched for Star Wars image galleries before? Thanks to Jedi Ginny for showing me the motherlode! Great hi-res star wars images for your downloading pleasure right here: http://64.227.26.45/Grilled-Sarlacc/wp/index.htm. Ooh, I can see my Star Wars wallpapers multiplying like crazy!

Congratulations Jedi_Ginny! Star Wars Philippines is an official FanForce Chapter!!!

Okay, I've reuploaded the entire LOTR Wallpaper site. The new url is http://lotrwallpaperarchive.tripod.com.

At ang nanalo sa PATANGAHAN 2002....AKO!!!! I accidentally erased my entire LOTR Wallpaper Archive website from the Tripod server. And now, I can't freakin log in!!! After waiting forever to get that darn site listed at Google!!!

I tried re-registering the same url, but I couldn't! And now when people point their browsers to the old url, they'll get a message saying my site was deleted! Ack! The shame of it all! Gotta work fast to put everything up again!

Will let you know when everything's up again!

LOTR in Lego!!! Very cute!

Dreamt last night of people riding motorcycles on the roof outside my window. I swear, i'm having weirder dreams every day. But at least I remember my dreams now. I "stopped" dreaming for 4 years or more. It's only recently that I started remembering my dreams again. One of my favorite ones since this all started again was being in class. Professor JRRT's class, that is.

Beautiful rain last night. Woke up at 3am when it started to pelt down on the roof outside my window. Haha! Motorcycles, my foot. Twas only the gigantic raindrops making a racket. I woke up from the noise, from the cold, and from the water that was spraying through the windows on me. I felt like a kid hoping it'd get worse and classes be called off the next day. Ha, classes. Right.

Monday morning arrived whether I welcomed it or not. Woke up, fell out of bed, dragged a comb across my head. Didn't even have time to drink a cup. Cos when I looked up, I noticed I was late! Good thing Jake had an emergency meeting which pushed our meeting to 11am. So, I ended up being early. Found time for that cup.

Spent the whole day juicin' it, watching some interstitials. Got through to 3pm without Pao cracking a Tolkien Benevolence Society joke. It eventually happened at 3:30. Oh well, it's not Monday without a Pao wisecrack.

Pao returned my FOTR Artbook, lent him the FOTR DVD. His bro-in-law, who's supposedly "not that far gone into Tolkien fandom" excused himself from dinner one night, to go to the bathroom, after Pao described my book to him. He returns after almost an hour, admitting to sneaking off to PageOne to look for a copy of the book. Haha, not that far gone, eh? Care to show us yer LOTR dolls?

He ought to just accept that he's a geek and join us at TPTS.

Speaking of books and dolls, TTT action figures have been sighted in Landmark and Galleria. The Legolas one is almost sold out. Haha, ang kamandag ng lolo mo malakas pa rin.

BTW, updated my LOTR Wallpaper Archive.

Sunday, September 15, 2002

On a lighter note, I made new LOTR wallpapers which I will upload to the LOTR Wallpaper Archive tomorrow night. Too sleepy to do it now. Anyway, just thought I'd let those people who are looking for LOTR stuff about this. Since my tracker says that NO ONE is finding my site looking for any NieA stuff! This is depressing...my entire blog...NieA-themed...and no one is interested...sniff sniff. And I have lots of NieA goodies too! O sha, LOTR na kung LOTR! Buti na lang, paborito ko yon nang sobra. Tomorrow na upload, k?

All it takes is one stupid screw-up and the whole day is shot to hell. Sometimes you'd think you're allowed even a small margin for error, but no! One slip-up and shit gets dumped on you.

Can I just go back to this afternoon, even if it was scorching in my lola's house? I was having a great day just watching my tita repot the newly bought plants.

And this time, I really will insist on my original plan. I hate this!

Back from my lola's house, where we have lunch every other Sunday. And today's menu was fantastic!

Fluffy white rice; super duper fresh alimango that my lola bought from Pampanga, simply steamed; pesang tilapia (my favorite fish) with yummy tomato salsa; and chicken pork adobo. Actually, no one touched the adobo much because of the alimango (kala mo bibitayin na kaming lahat) except for my lolo and cousin Mayo, who are too lazy to strip the shell off the crabs. There were also 3 cakes in the house, why, I don't know. But there were. I love her Sunday lunches! Ooh, the next one is two weeks away! Hehe, no matter, I brought home a huge alimango and some adobo (to make up for the dedma during lunch.) Hahaha, no spaghetti for me today!

Saw the fashion show last night. The fashion show itself was unremarkable, except when the musicians took the catwalk.

Best part of the show was when the bands played: Itchyworms, Murder of Crows(?), and Rivermayaaaaaaa!!!! Galing ng 'Maya. Rico was all over the place making fun of his own songs, hehe. But, they're really tight! I had been considering going home before they played because the place was kinda uncomfy and the show was taking forever to start! I'm glad I stayed! And no choco eclair at that!

Discussing usually fun stuff with a narrow-minded, know-it-all purist is no fun at all.

Jaeb, i tried, i tried to figure out how to apply your random image script to my blog, but i couldn't get it right!!! (thanks anyway)

So, i searched the web and found a similar one, pero simpler. No need to put the script within the head tag, just put it straight in the table cell you want the image to appear. See the script here or view source! Hay, salamat.

Can I just say that I love Rivermaya? I used to be indifferent to them, especially when they first became popular. I never liked that hit of theirs, 214. And I seriously was reconsidering the name Ulan (if ever, I want to name my firstborn Ulan) because people might think I got it from the 'Maya song.

Now, I don't care. Ever since I did that segment on them on 5 and Up, I've been converted.

Haaay, they have a show on Saturday, in Rockwell. It's going to be a fashion show/concert, with some musicians working the catwalk as well. Including, ahem, Rico. Hehehe, that's worth a watch, eh?

WHAT: 2BU! ROCKS THE RAMP, a benefit fashion show concert for the benefit of PARC (Philippine Animal Rehabilitation Center)
WHEN: Sept. 14, 2002 (Saturday!), 9pm
WHERE: Rockwell Plaza Parking Lot (near the bridge beside Play UnderGround)

Musicians take the ramp as MOJOFLY, Murder of Crows, itchyworms! and Rivermaya perform!!!

Their latest album is great! They sound like a new wave band. I'm partial to new wave, obviously. This one track of theirs, Ipo-ipo sounds very Cure-ish. Hope I can go watch them perform. In any case, they have gigs in UP in November and December.

Wow. I can't wait!

I made 6 new NieA wallpapers! Mwahahaha... Check em out in the Desktop Stuff section. Let me know if there are any broken links!

Ah, GetRight! While you're doing the downloading, I can update my blog leisurely. Haha, as if I haven't updated my blog today. GetRight can be a little intimidating with all its buttons and whatnot. But, it's great for downloading tons of images in one go. Just type in the url of the site you wanna leech, browse through the directory of the site, and select the files you wanna leech! And voila, they're all lined-up ready to be downloaded. The site i'm getting more NieA_7 images from is Under Capture and Blue Star Bath.

Now, on with my blog.

I should call this period in my life the "Spaghetti Days" because I've been having spaghetti for weeks now, trying to save money. I cook my meals most days and the cheapest ingredients one can get from the grocery are spag noodles, tomato sauce, garlic and onions! Plus add some mushrooms and you're done. The recipe is nothing great, it's a basic tomato sauce for pasta. But, it's easy to prepare and cheap, so there.

My Basic Pasta Sauce

Olive oil

Small red onion - chopped fine

Half a head of garlic - chopped fine

1 small tetra pack of tomato sauce

grab a fistfull of spag noodles and cook

button mushrooms

black pepper and dried oregano

salt to taste

parmesan cheese

Sautee the onion and garlic in olive oil, put in tomato sauce. Add a little water and simmer. Season with salt, pepper, and oregano. Mix in 2 tablespoons of parmesan cheese. Add mushrooms and simmer some more. Add cooked noodles to the pot and mix until sauce adheres to the noodles. That's it! Enjoy with more parmesan cheese!

Got this link from my Tolkien club and it's positively freaky. Don't get me wrong, I'm not homophobic, nor am I a Tolkien purist, but the artwork featured on this site freaked me! It features slash art featuring Tolkien characters, as they look in the film! So, they look like Viggo Mortensen, Liv Tyler, Orlando Bloom, etc... in very intimate poses. Haha, it's a little disturbing cos the artwork is soooooo good they look like photographs of very private moments!

Have a looksee here:
http://www.squidge.org/~praxisters/TBlotr.html

Ok, i'm going to do the thumbnail display manually for now.

I've got to get some help re javascript. Any visitor who's knowledgeable in javascript, i'd love to hear your input. This is the script i wanted to use. And it works fine offline, when i'm putting the page together on Dreamweaver. But, when I put it online, it doesn't work! Any idea why? I'd appreciate any input :-)

This is weird. I can't see the picture that's supposed to appear on the left side of the blog, in the "Featured Wallpaper" box. Is it invisible to everyone else, too? I hope not. It works offline, so I can't figure out what could be wrong. I used a script to display random images in that box, from a selection of 5 images. These are the NieA wallpapers that I currently have in the site.

I got the script here, and it works fine when I'm working the code, and viewing the page offline. Now that I've uploaded it, and the photos, they're not showing!

Help!

BTW, I uploaded 3 new NieA wallpapers. Check 'em out in the Desktop Stuff section, under Assorted Anime wallpapers.

Here's a nice list of Fantasy authors and their works, for those who are always on the lookout for new stuff to read!
http://www.sff.net/people/Amy.Sheldon/listcont.htm

I think this is how I found out about Jane Yolen's "Pit Dragon Trilogy" around 5 years ago. I printed the entire site before so I could browse for titles by authors i don't know about and then try to buy them. I also found out about Craig Shaw Gardner's "The Dragon Circle" trilogy. Hehe, i'm obviously into dragons.

I have so many books I haven't read yet, which is also a good reason for not buying any new books from the Book Fair. Aside from the fact that I have no money to buy anything with. Haha, I'm consoling myself. I used to scour every corner of the book fair for fun finds, but I didn't even do that this year. Just went around skimming through the displays, but I wasn't really hoping to find anything.

There were lots of Tolkien and Tolkien-related titles, so it was very frustrating to not have cash. But, with Amazon just a click away, I'm not too worried. When I do get the money, I can always find those books online. Plus, Jorge's going to LA in October, so I'm drafting a list of pabili's for him, hehe.

I have so many things to spend on come the end of the year:

November:
The Collectors Extended Edition FOTR DVD

December:
Premiere tickets to TTT
The Art of The Two Towers (amazon)
Tickets to the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert (Dec 8, 1500++)

I gotta find more rackets soon. Ack!

Got the Star Wars Homing Beacon newsletter and I got all excited by this desktop theme that I thought they were giving out. Turns out they're selling the images. Grrrr.... $4.50 per set of 12 high-res images! Gad. I just downloaded the free trial.

Had a moot yesterday at the new Greenbelt. Krys didn't make it, though. And the Quenya readings were stuck at her office! Oh well, it was a good moot, nonetheless. We met three new people, not necessarily newbies, but new mooters. So, that's good. It's nice that we meet a new face every moot.

The first issue of Quento was released, too! Hooray for the TPTS Mootzine!

Got off work early today so I had time to work on the zine which is due on Saturday! As I was walking along Katipunan on my way to Intermatrix, I remembered that there was supposedly a huge comic book store in FBR building. So, I stepped in a while to check it out.

And there it was, Central Comic Headquarters. It was a big store filled with all sorts of comic books -- manga, english titles, artbooks. Artbooks! I tried my luck with finding a NieA_7 Scrap, but they didn't have it. Yet. Left my email address with them. Ooohh, goody. Hope they have it soon. They also have the NieA_7 manga, but I can't read japanese. Really must learn. Got some tips from the helpful CCHQ owners.

Anyway, if you're from Metro Manila, pay them a visit at the 3rd Floor, FBR Building, Katipunan Avenue (across the Ateneo campus). Or check out their website.

And I am still at it. Here are some stuff that I've had for some time now. Today Screen images for PocketPC and some picture messages you can download. I've got NieA_7, Cynthia Alexander, and one of Anakin/Vader. You'll need Logo Manager, though to upload it to your phone. Anyway, check them out in the Desktop Stuff section.

Gotta work on the TPTS Fanzine! And Rorisu's custom pic messages! :-)

Tuesday, September 03, 2002

here we go. i've posted some wallpapers and a couple of winamp skins (featuring Niea-chan, of course!). If you're getting saturated with all this NieA business, don't worry. The release of The Two Towers is 105 days away. I'm sure that when it finally arrives, you won't hear anything from me except TTT-this, TTT-that.

So, please check those out at the Desktop Stuff section.

And by the way, Rorisu commented on the font I used in the banner. It's called Minya Nouvelle and you can get it at The Font Pool. Enjoy!

I'm slowly putting this site together. What I'm actually attempting is to bring together my old Geocities desktopmonster site and this new Tripod account. My geocities account is full already and I have no intention of taking everything down and rebuilding from scratch. Geocities doesn't have FTP, which is why I stopped using Blogger for a while.

So, now, I'm putting the two together. The blog, and new goodies will be hosted on Tripod. While the old site can still be accessed via the blog archive index.

I have a collection of non-Rurouni Kenshin, non-LOTR goodies that won't be enough to fill a specialized site of their own, so they're all dumped here. And me being obsessed with NieA_7 these days, you can expect NieA goodies! I have a couple of wallpapers already done -- very simple ones using the theme of the blog itself.

I'll be making pocketpc goodies, too. Hope someone finds some use for them.

There are still some dead links, so bear with me. Let me know if something leads to a dead end. Use the comments links below.

Let's have some happy thoughts:

NieA_7 products on Amazon! Click here for the list. There's going to be an english resource book for NieA_7 called "NieA_7: The Ultimate Fan Guide" and according to Amazon, it's supposed to be published on August 30, 2002. So, that's a few days ago. I wonder what happened. I'd better keep tabs on its release. Gotta get one! Here's the product description from Amazon:

Book Description
As a starving student, Mayuko’s life consists of many part-time jobs, a small apartment over a bathhouse, and sleepless study nights. Unfortunately for her sanity, this hard life is complicated by Niea, a young 7th class under-alien who is living in Mayuko’s closet, building flying saucers out of trash, and eating Mayuko’s food. A touching comedy by the creators of Serial Experiments Lain. This authorized Ultimate Fan Guide features detailed episode summaries, in depth character profiles, setting and theme analysis, and role-playing character sheets for the Big Eyes, Small Mouth anime RPG. With hundreds of full-color images from the series, and many pages of production line art, this Ultimate Fan Guide is the definitive English-language resource book for Niea_7.

Looks interesting, ne? Gotta wait around for this one.

But, there's a japanese artbook already published. And if you're just after the art, then I guess it being in japanese won't matter much. Lookee here.

And I found a review for NieA_7 SCRAP right here. Looks like this is a must-have!!! Woohoo!

And my goodness, there are TSHIRTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go to AnimeNation and run a search for NieA_7 and you'll get a list of goodies!!! The thing is, I've never ordered from AnimeNation, so I'm naturally wary. Will go look for alternatives. Ack, sana kasi Amazon carries SCRAP!

Well, gotta get in touch with my friend's comics dealer. He might be able to get me a copy. :-) Yatta!

Rorisu, patay bulsa na naman!!!

What if there was a website where all the things in your life is recorded, word for word, second for second. The ultimate database of life on earth. And not just a blog where you keep notes of your existence.

What if you can choose a certain portion of your life, say 9:30pm to 10:30pm of Monday and play it back on Quicktime?

Would you hear your words differently? And maybe see how the way you said them made much more of an impact than what they meant? Maybe you'd have more time to watch other people in the scene and see why they reacted the way they did.

But, what good would that do? People rarely change. And if one is completely oblivious to one's mistakes, then things would be absolutely hopeless, wouldn't it?
